Prefinished floors can be installed in a day, depending on the size of the job, and do not have to be sanded or finished. This is a great advantage to customers whose top priority is convenience. There are several disadvantages to prefinished floors, one of which being cost. The cost of a prefinished floor is significantly higher than that of unfinished wood. Labor costs are also higher since installation requires more skill and care. Prefinished flooring has a micro-bevel edge which makes repairing more difficult and many times results in the resanding of the entire floor. Cracks that appear in winter months will usually close together in the summer. These cracks are minimal and do not take away from the beauty and durability of wood floors.
